About Designer Jan Tomáš & Future Typo

When developing “Future Typo”, the aim was to rediscover a realistic 3D space and information through the use of new technologies. Future Typo is the name given to a font currently designed for 2D printed and 3D animated typography. The task of a font designed in this manner is to attune the reader to an adventure of discovering new opportunities in obtaining information and the perception of the space and events around us. Jans first collection of typefaces was inspired by the latest technology and designed for 2D animation. In 2000, these typefaces were registered in the Linotype Library as Linotype ALPHABAT, Linotype ELEMENT, Linotype STARTEC and Linotype SILVER. Jan Tomáš took part in the International Biennale of Graphic Design in Brno in 2002 and 2004. In 2004, he won the Typographic Excellence prize awarded by the Type Directors Club in New York. From 2005 to 2007 he worked on creating new typefaces inspired by futuristic technologies – JTPART, JTINLINE, JTDIMENSION and JTDIGIMON. In 2011, he set up the Future Typo web - this is the first Internet portal for advanced typography, offering original typefaces including those for 3D animation.
